About the Founders
The Sandra and Alain Bouchard Foundation is a private foundation whose main mission is to financially support organizations working in the arts and culture,
as well as organizations that provide support to people living with an intellectual disability.
The Founders
Sandra Chartrand
Sandra Chartrand is president of the FSAB. For more than 30 years, she has been actively involved in the philanthropic community by getting involved in several fundraising campaigns and events. She has become an important player in the development of philanthropy in Quebec. She currently sits on the board of directors of the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital Foundation as well as that of the Place des Arts Foundation and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. She was also president of the board of directors of the Orchestre symphonique de Laval and sat on many other boards. Sandra Chartrand holds a Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University. In November 2015, she and her husband received the Outstanding Philanthropists of the Year award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Quebec Chapter.
Alain Bouchard
Alain Bouchard is a born entrepreneur and a reference in the retail industry. He opened his first convenience store in Quebec in 1980 and founded the companies that grew into Alimentation Couche-Tard, which today is a world leader in the convenience store sectorw ith more than 14,000 stores. Over the years, he has been involved in numerous philanthropic activities. He served on the board of directors of the CGI Group from 2013 to 2023 and on the board of directors of Quebecor inc. from 1997 to 2009. He is a member of the Order of Canada and an Officer of the Ordre national du Québec. He also holds an honorary doctorate in consumer sciences from Laval University in Quebec and an honorary doctorate in law from McGill University in Montreal.
