Our fields of action

FSAB helps people reach their full potential. It essentially wants to allow artists and creators to sublimate their art
for the benefit of all, and to allow people living with an intellectual disability to better integrate society by making
a unique contribution.

Intellectual disability

People living with an intellectual disability may seem different at first, but they are people in their own right. It is by allowing them to develop skills that they take their place in society, that they create friendships, become independent and have self-confidence.

Helping a person living with an intellectual disability to develop their autonomy means allowing them to develop their independence, allowing them to become effective and productive in society. This independence translates into daily actions or living in supervised housing.

Education is also important. With appropriate means, people living with an intellectual disability can, among other things, learn to read and understand a simplified text, thus enabling them to obtain information independently.

Integration into the workplace in suitable environments allows them not only to earn money but also to take their place, to have confidence. It’s rewarding for them as much as for the people they work with.

Participation in various artistic, cultural and sporting activities allows them to flourish, develop skills and strengthen the feeling of mutual aid, all together.

Research in this field makes it possible to study the complex brain mechanisms at work in intellectual disability, to understand them and to design toolkits that will allow to test promising new treatments and to make diagnoses more accurately and faster.

Arts and culture

By supporting the arts and culture, FSAB participates in the development of artistic projects and thus contributes to the social benefits and the positive impact they bring to communities.

Its commitment is reflected in the support of artists at the dawn of their career as well as the training of professional Canadian artists.

This involvement also contributes to artistic outreach, both in Canada and internationally, which allows artists to conquer other audiences and develop.

It is also important for FSAB to contribute to the stable funding of artistic or cultural organizations, to help them pursue their missions, to improve and to create new programs which are aimed at artists but also at the whole community, including children and people with disabilities.
